Like many people, I use Twitter to keep up to date with gaming news and to tweet about gaming news. A few hours ago I tried to go to the site, only to be confronted by the image you see above.
Over capacity? I take this to mean that so many people are using Twitter at the same time that their servers are having trouble handling the load.
Now, what could possibly be going on today that’s causing a lot more people to tweet a lot more than usual? Perhaps something that starts with an E and ends with a 3?
It’s not too far-fetched. We’ve had quite a few major press conferences today, with companies revealing some unbelievable pieces of news. Imagine hundreds of viewers (journalists, developers, bigwig producers, and of course gamers) tweeting away at the same time on their iPhones, Blackberries, and other devices.
The Twitter site was down for at least two hours, but it’s up and running now. Unless Twitter somehow works around it, I have a feeling that we may see this error message a few more times over the next three days.
