CruiseCons logoLandlocked fan conventions are soooooo last year. Get with the times and attend a con at sea!

Think about it: The food will be top-notch, you won’ t have to deal with parking and stuffy halls and your “hotel” room is in the same place as the con.

CruiseCons is offering a seven-day sci-fi convention on a luxury liner, while cruising the Western Caribbean. The best part is that joining you on this cruise will be a bevy of celebrities.

CruiseCons is the brainchild of Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Claire Kramer, travel entrepreneur Joe Motes and convention photographer Donald “Froggy” Bonneau. The ship is called the Dream and will be provided by Carnival Cruises.

Celebrities already scheduled for the June 11 through 18, 2011, cruise include:

  • George Takei (Star Trek/Heroes)
  • Jewel Staite (Firefly/Serenity)
  • Julie Benz (Dexter/Angel/Rambo)
  • Connor Trinneer (Star Trek/Stargate: Atlantis)
  • Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica/The Bridge)
  • Bianca Kajlich (Rules of Engagement/Halloween 8)
  • Keith Szarabajka (Angel/The Dark Knight)
  • Jerry Doyle (Babylon 5/The Jerry Doyle Show)
  • Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Bring It On)

If being stuck on a ship for a week with your favorite sci-fi stars isn’t the geek’s ultimate fantasy, I don’t know what is.

You’ll get to enjoy the usual con activities such as guest talks, Q&As and autograph signings, with the added bonus of being on a regular cruise. Ports-of-call include Cozumel, Mexico, Isla Roatan, Belize and Costa Maya, Mexico. Apparently, the celebs will even join guests on shore excursions so if you want to tell people that you went snorkeling with Sulu or chillaxed at the beach with Chief Tyrol, this is your chance to do so.

CruiseCon prices range from $2,236 for a single person in an interior, 185-square-feet cabin to $10,613 for four people in a Grand Suite (345 square feet with an 85-square-feet balcony and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub). There are also payment plans available.
