As with all Etrian Odyssey games, Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City allows players to create a custom party of characters, with 30 member slots available at the in-game guild. Once you’ve decided who you want in your party, you head out to explore the dungeon or the ocean for quests and glory. You’ll need to craft maps on the touch screen though, if you want to keep track of where everything is for future reference and exploration. You can even explore the seas for extra islands and quests.
Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City will also be the first game in the series to offer multiplayer. Up to five players can join together over local wireless to fight it out. Or, the players can trade items they’ve found with their friends. Either way, it’s an interesting new touch and attempt to broaden the bounds of the series.
Atlus has also opened the Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City website. It’s still a bit sparce at the moment, but you can learn about three of the character classes (princess/prince, ninja, buccaneer), read about the game’s story, investigate some game mechanics, look at some media or visit the forums.
