Madden Arcade

EA Sports’ Madden Arcade is not getting a new installment in 2010. EA hasn’t forgotten all its arcade football fans, though.

If you enter an online match you’ll be asked to download a comprehensive roster update that contains all the new rookies and removes retirees. Brett Favre, whose status is always up in the air this time of year, for example, is still a Minnesota Viking because he hasn’t officially announced his intentions.

The main version of Madden is touting a new feature called “Gameflow” that EA’s reps have been saying will significantly shorten game times. Playing a game of Madden in a shorter time was also one of the main selling points of Madden Arcade. Since that kind of puts it in direct conflict with Gameflow, I’m not surprised to see Madden Arcade get shelved for at least one season.

If you’d still like to try this power-up filled, arcade style take on NFL football it’s on sale for 800 Microsoft Points through June 27, 2010. Madden Arcade is also available for download through the PlayStation Network.
