THQ was big on the mascots at E3 2010. When I say big, I mean that in the most literal sense possible. We captured around a minute of footage of a walking Ork and a semi-operational mech from Red Faction Armageddon.
I believe the Ork is from the Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millennium Online MMO. As much as I wanted to see what an Ork feels like in person, that giant axe was enough to satisfy my curiosity. The giant mech suit is what really got my attention.
Attendees who were willing to stand in line were able to get inside the mech. As you’ll see from the video, the mech actually opens and closes when someone enters. Any onboard defense systems were almost certainly set to stun and not kill.
Red Faction Armageddon is due out in March 2011 and Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millennium Online will likely be available in 2012.
