Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days DSThere are times where a game is released where you really want to know what happened but you either can’t or don’t want to buy or play it. To help you out, Gamertell offers Spoiler Alert. We’ll play the games and tell you what happened so you don’t have to spend, or waste, your time on it. This week, we’re looking at Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the DS action-RPG from Square Enix. Prepare to be spoiled.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days chronicles the year Roxas spent as a member of Organization XIII. From his recruitment by Xemnas, to various daily activities and missions he carried out. Initially, he came in with a blank memory – which was odd since all other nobodies did remember bits and pieces of their past lives. He ends up working with Axel quite a bit, becoming best friends. He also meets and befriends the 14th Organization member, Xion.

Xion is really a doll. The Organization wanted to create mass produced keyblade wielders Replicas, and she was the prototype – No.i. She looked like a doll to most people. Originally, she looked like herself to Roxas and Namine. Then she looked like a girl to Axel and Riku as they were exposed to her more often.

Also, Xion isn’t really a girl. She’s a collection of some of Sora’s memories. She just looked a bit like a Sora-Kairi hybrid due to the memories. When she finally reveals herself at the end, she looks like Sora. So as Namine was restoring Sora, Xion would get stronger and Roxas would get weaker. When Xion met Namine, she realized what she had to do.

When Roxas learns she’s a doll, not a real person, he acts out. (Especially since his best friend, Axel, knew.) He’s been experiencing memory flashes of Sora throughout the game, due to Namine restoring Sora’s memories, and decides to leave the Organization and find Sora. As he leaves, Axel tries to convince Roxas to stay.

Xion, after meeting Namine and deciding what must be done, encounters Axel. He tries to convince her not to do what she feels she has to, and says he’ll keep fighting and bringing her back.

We then see Roxas on the Twilight Town clock tower. He had nowhere to go, and ended up there. Xion appears, hood up, with some Sea Salt ice cream. She offers one to Roxas. She then takes down her hood and asks Roxas who he sees, and if he sees a boy then she’s ready. She says that she has to make Roxas part of her to become Sora.

Roxas beats her (of course – she lets him) and she then dies and almost all memory of her existence fades. He barely remembers her as she dies, but remembers that he did forget something important. Sora (through Roxas) and Riku are vaguely aware of her though. Her last request was that Roxas fight Organization XIII and stop their plans.

The game ends with Roxas deciding to defeat Xemnas and free the hearts gathered for Kingdom Hearts after Xion’s sacrifice and death. Roxas runs into Riku as he does. Riku knocks him out, resorting to using the darkness inside him, so that Roxas can be used to help restore Sora’s memories and wake him up.

It then shows Roxas in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II, getting to enjoy the last seven days of his summer vacation.
