EA is going to attempt to cash in on The Sims 3 again. Not with another expansion pack – no, there probably won’t be another one of those until the 2010 holiday season. There’s another new stuff pack in the works, called The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff.
Those unfamiliar with The Sims probably are wondering what the difference is between an expansion pack and stuff pack. Stuff packs are just add-ons with extra items and clothing. So, if someone picks up The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff when it comes out in Fall 2010, they’ll get new hairstyles, clothes, furniture and cars for their copy of The Sims 3. As you can guess from the name, it features lots of car and car-related items. EA’s official description says there’ll be classic luxury, intrigue (think spy), racing and rockabilly stuff in this stuff pack.
A price hasn’t been set yet for The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff. The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff cost $19.99 when it was released, which is pretty much the standard for stuff packs. Also like the previous stuff pack, The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff will be compatible with Windows and Mac computers and require owners to at least own a copy of The Sims 3. (You don’t need any of the expansion packs to make stuff packs work.)
Your best bet is to wait. Usually the stuff packs end up on sale pretty cheap, and if you’re patient enough you can pick it up for under $10. It’s not like The Sims Fast Lane Stuff will have anything revolutionary, as The Sims 3 has cars and bicycles already included in the core game.
