Oddly enough, it looks like the only edition available is the limited edition. So if you’re interested, you don’t really have a choice whether you get a cheaper standard edition or a more costly special edition. Fortunately, the limited edition only costs $49.99 at both GameStop and Amazon, $10 less than the “standard” Xbox 360 game price of $59.99.
If you pick up Deathsmiles, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. Aside from getting a game which few people expected would be released outside of Japan, you get some extra swag. The horizontal Deathsmiles artbox also has the 15 track Deathsmiles Premium Arrange Album soundtrack and Deathsmiles Xbox 360 faceplate exclusively made for the US release.
Aksys is probably going to use the sales figures from Deathsmiles to determine whether or not the company will release more eclectic Japanese games, so you may want to consider picking it up. Cave’s made a lot of great games that haven’t been released outside of Japan yet.
