There’s some activity concerning Fallout Online! Interplay really is going forward and hopefully making the massive multiplayer online game in the Fallout universe a reality. There’s no beta yet, nor any definite news on when one will start, but the website has been updated and people can start signing up to be considered for the beta!
It’s extraordinarily easy to sign up for the Fallout Online beta. You just head to the Fallout Online website, and the process will automatically begin. After the disembodied hand in front of you shuffles through some polaroids and looks at a postcard, it brings up a form you can enter your inormation into. Signing up there will get you registered for the free email newsletter and give you the chance to sign up to possibly be picked for the beta program.
Fallout Online is going to be a Fallout MMO which chronologically takes place between the first two Fallout games. Players will be able to explore areas from Fallout and Fallout 2 and have total freedom to decide what to do in the wastelands. You can be altruistic and try to make the post-apocolyptic world a better place, a jerk and try to destroy everything and fight with everyone or just roam around doing whatever makes you happy.
Looks like Fallout Online is really going to happen, despite the legal troubles between Interplay and Bethesda. There were some lawsuits a while back over the game, but it seems like Interplay isn’t letting that hold them back.
