Mega Man Universe logoCapcom’s just made a Mega Man announcement! A very vague and pretty unhelpful announcement, but an announcement nonetheless. It turns out a brand new, downloadable Mega Man game, called Mega Man Universe, is being developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

And that’s it. That’s all that’s revealed. There’s also a Mega Man Universe trailer which was shown at GameSpot. It’s not very informative, but it looks good and is fun to watch. There’s a GameSpot interview with Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s Global Head of Production, as well, but like the trailer and official announcement offers no solid information and doesn’t even say what genre Mega Man Universe falls into.

Let’s watch the Mega Man Universe teaser trailer.

Not very helpful, is it. We get to see a 3D, claymation style Mega Man fight some baddies. When the kid looks at Cut Man, Mega Man gets the Cut Man buster. When the kid looks at Ryu’s headband (Street Fighters), Mega Man turns into Ryu and unleashes a hadoken. After that, Mega Man drops, transforms into his 2D sprite self and goes after the legion of enemies like that.

The Capcom-Unity blog states that Mega Man Universe will be at the San Diego Comic-Con being held July 22-25, 2010. We’ll probably get to see the first actual gameplay trailer then. If you’re at Comic-Con, stop by the booth! You could get one of 2,000 iam8bit Mega Man Universe foam busters for your hands. Or, you could enter the Mega Man cosplay contest on July 24, 2010.
