lego universe beta coming to mac graphicLEGO today (July 16, 2010) announced that it is extending its closed beta hours and that a LEGO Universe beta will be available for Mac “soon.”

Here’s the text from an email sent from “The LEGO Universe Team” to current closed beta players:

“Our developers are also working hard to get the Closed-Beta ready for Mac, and our Closed-Beta testers in Germany can look forward to a German version coming soon. Stay tuned for more info about the Closed-Beta missions and the latest updates on the Beta Center.”

Unfortunately that’s all we know. No word on the dates, whether it is an open or closed beta, which Mac OSes it will work on or whether or not it will have iPad or iPhone compatibility. The good news is this means the game will definitely be Mac compatible.

The current Windows OS close beta extended days and hours are not really a big deal but LEGO has let media know that the closed beta embargo for coverage – at least for select areas of the MMO – will soon be lifted.

LEGO Universe is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game where you get to create and control a LEGO person avatar. You fight creatures, solve puzzles, partake in races and collect LEGO pieces to build a LEGO home, spaceship and other goodies.

I’m been playing some of the LEGO Universe closed beta and, while I cannot say much about it now, LEGO fans will certainly want to come back and check out our screen shots and first impressions.

LEGO Universe is expected to be released October 26, 2010, for PC (Windows) and Mac.
