Fresh off its money grubbing outing on Xbox Live, the Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days demo is ready to take on PSN next week. Before everyone will be able to get their hands on the demo, PlayStation Plus subscribers will get the first taste of Dog Days. This will be one of the first early access incentives offered to PlayStation Plus members. Everyone else will have to wait until July 27, 2010 before the demo is open to them.
There’s a couple ways to receive the 1.4GB Dog Days demo. The most convenient (and confusing) way is through automatic downloading. The second is through a manual download in the PlayStation Store. Automatic downloads are only given to PlayStation Plus subscribers. After activating automatic downloads from the system settings menu on the XMB, you can choose choose what time your PS3 will check for updates. Every two days your PS3 will turn itself on at the designated time and look for content.
Here is when things get tricky. If you enable automatic downloads before Monday (July 19, 2010) you’ll get the demo by July 21, 2010 at the latest. If you enable automatic downloads after Monday, you’ll get the demo within the next 24 hours. You also have to make sure you keep your PS3 off during the time you choose for it to check for automatic updates. Otherwise it won’t download the demo when its supposed to. I recommend picking an update time when you’re likely to be sleeping.
If this sounds too complicated to you, remember you can download Kane and Lynch 2 the old fashioned way from the PlayStation Store next Tuesday (July 20, 2010).
