We have the perfect thing to jumpstart your weekend. Get a free game! Allow me to explain. Valve is distributing a new game called Alien Swarm on Steam for free. The game won’t be officially released until Monday (July 19, 2010) but you can pre-load the game now. Pre-loading downloads the game on your machine and waits for Valve to unlock the game.
Alien Swarm is a game created by modders whom Valve eventually hired. It’s a four-player cooperative game that involves shooting lots of bugs. You choose from four different classes of IAF Marines and choose a customized weapon loadout for each area. There are over 40 weapons to choose from along with items that can only be earned by leveling up. The game is played from a top-down view and includes 64 Achievements, Steam Cloud, and modding tools. The modding tools and the game code come with the game so you can work your own magic.
