It’s taken two years, but it’s finished. Absolute Zero has actually translated Tales of Innocence. The fan-translation group has released a patch which completely translates the DS game to English.
The long and arduous journey to complete the Tales of Innocence English patch began back in July, 2008. Two fans known as throughhim413 and Kingcom took it upon themselves to translate everything, absolutely everything, in the DS game. Throughhim413 did all of the translating, and Kingcom all the programming. The two did more than just translating though, as mentioned in an earlier Important Importables column on fan-translations, this fan patch also fixes some of the glitches that were found in the original DS game.
The Tales of Innocence v1.0 patch likely won’t be the last one. The Absolute Zero Translations site confirms that eventually there will be an updated patch that fixes little things like spelling issues. But for now, v1.0 is the best you can get.
Let’s hope Namco Bandai takes notice of these fans efforts and, in turn, takes the time to release some of the company’s DS Tales of games outside of Japan! (Tales of Innocence and Tales of Hearts would be nice!)
