Artist Katie Hampton has created some amusing images that feature classic video game characters aging in real-life situations. Most of her drawings focused on classic Nintendo characters.
What would life be like for Mario, Link, Yoshi, Lara, and others in 20-30 years if they lived in the real world? According to Hampton’s drawings, they wouldn’t age gracefully.
Lara’s famous bosoms would finally sag due to raising three children. The adorable duo from Ice Climbers would be facing a bitter divorce — receiving counsel from Phoenix Wright, naturally. Yoshi would have a seemingly painful colonoscopy. All those years of pushing eggs and enemies out his ass couldn’t have been good. Ouch.
Meanwhile, Pac-Man, Kirby (love the 70′s ‘stache on him), and the man-eating plant from Super Mario Brothers would attend Weight Watchers meetings, presided by granny Peach. And Starfox‘s Slippy Toad is…well, let’s just say that he’d be in a better place.
Some of the depictions didn’t quite make sense to me. What would Link be doing at the Department of Motor Vehicles? I suppose it’s suggesting that he’s finally old enough to drive. And I’m not sure why old Mario would be handing old Toad a bag of money.
