Dead Rising 2: Case 0 has a touching story

Dead Rising: Case 0 is a downloadable prequel to Dead Rising 2 that will be coming to XBLA. No specific release date has been announced, but it is expected to come out about one month before Dead Rising 2. Leading up to these events, Case 0 tells a story of Chuck Green and his daughter.

Three years before Dead Rising 2 begins, Chuck and his daughter are stranded at a gas station right outside Fortune City. Chuck’s daughter is bitten by a zombie and the only way to keep her alive is by injecting her with Zombrex every 12 hours. Chuck keeps the drug in his car which is eventually stolen. Now the father-daughter duo must survive for 12 hours and escape the area.

We’re still waiting for an exact price, but the games producer, Keiji Inafune expects it to be priced around ¥500 (roughly $5). The price is so low because Case 0 doubles as a demo for Dead Rising 2. You can play some of Case 0 for free, but if you want to play through the entire 5 hour adventure you’ll have to pay. The stats you acquire in Case 0 can also be carried over to Dead Rising 2 from your save file.

Since Chuck is fighting in a reality show to afford Zombrex for his daughter in Dead Rising 2, we know she survives Case 0. Hopefully this touching story won’t distract us from senseless zombie killing mayhem too much.
