Trials HD Big Thrills DLC features user-created content

RedLynx’s forthcoming downloadable expansion pack for the Xbox 360 game Trials HD won’t just have new tracks from RedLynx – it’ll have tracks from players. RedLynx has announced that in addition to the 40 official tracks the company will pack into the game, there will be 10 player-created tracks. The question is, how to determine which tracks get in. Hey, a contest sounds like a pretty good idea!

The Big Thrills! Trials HD Track Creator Challenge has now started, and will run until 10,000 people enter or August 18, 2010 arrives. (Whichever comes first.) The top 10 winners will get their tracks put into the Big Thrills DLC pack, due out before the end of 2010. The top three winners get swag (a Trials HD sweatshirt and flag) and cash prizes (up to $5,000), while the other seven winners just get the shirt and flag. All the winners will be revealed November 15, 2010.

Entering is incredibly easy. After you’ve made a suitable track, you send a friend request to one of four gamertags associated with this contest – TrialsContest1, TrialsContest2, TrialsContest3 or TrialsContest4. Just wait for the confirmation, and then visit the contest page in November.

Since the DLC definitely won’t be out until after the contest ends, you’ll probably have to wait until late November, perhaps even December, to download Big Thrills and get 50 new tracks and three new achievements. We’ll probably hear about the price by then as well. The first Trials HD DLC, Big Pack, was released in December, 2009 and cost 400 Microsoft Points ($5), but it only had 23 tracks so the Big Thrills DLC will probably be more expensive.
