If you’re itching to get Mafia II and want to save yourself a drive to the store, have no fear. The game will be available as a digital download and come in two versions: Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition. If you pre-order either version, you’ll get a free digital copy of the first Mafia game. This is in addition to the bonus content provided by the digital retailers.
In addition to the first Mafia game, the Digital Deluxe Edition in particular will have several extra bits of content:
Made Man Pack: Free access to in-game downloadable pack that lets you get behind the wheel of two different luxury automobiles. In addition, Vito will look the part with two new “made man” suits, including a vintage tux.
Digital Art Book: Players get to know Empire Bay with a photo album-style Digital Art Book that takes fans through the artistic design process of the game.
Orchestral Soundtrack:Immerse yourself in a symphonic masterpiece with the Mafia II score recorded by the Prague FILM Harmonic Orchestra.
Digital Map of Empire Bay:Get familiar with the neighborhoods and own the streets with the Digital Map depicting the 10 square miles of Empire Bay and all the hangout spots.
The standard edition of Mafia II retails for $49.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $59.99.
You can pre-order digital downloads from four particular retailers: GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon, and Wal-Mart, each of which is offering its own special rewards for pre-ordering with their store. The first three retailers offer item packs, which consist of a themed vehicle and costumes. Wal-Mart is offering a $10 gift card, which is arguably the most useful reward but most boring as well.
Mafia II will be available on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. It’ll be released in North America on August 24, 2010 and internationally on August 27, 2010.
