If you’re interested in the forthcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie adaptation of the comic books and love free apps for your Apple device, then Pilgrim’s Punch-Out is for you. Most importantly, it’s free. Slightly less important (only slightly) is that it also gives you a brief fighting game where you can help Scott take down some evil exes. I mean yeah, it isn’t as awesome as the forthcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. the World game, but Pilgrim’s Punch-Out‘s out now and free.
As suggested by the title, Pilgrim’s Punch-Out looks and plays a lot like the classic NES game Punch-Out. You help Scott Pilgrim fight and knock out Ramona Flower’s seven exes. You tap on the screen to punch, press two fingers to the screen to block and move your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad to dodge attacks. Special attacks are unleashed by swiping your finger once you’ve filled up the meter on the left side of the screen.
There’s more to Pilgrim’s Punch-Out than recreating a classic game experience. When you’re done fighting, you can see media from the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, check feeds and tweets about the movie and share your high scores on Facebook. So while there’s no multiplayer, there are a few extra fun, movie-promoting extras included.
