Retailer lists Resistance 3 release date

Sony hasn’t said a word about a new game in the Resistance series since the second game shipped. The ending suggests the battle is not quite over and a third game in the franchise would be ideal. Almost one year ago, a billboard was supposedly erected in Louisiana that suggested Resistance 3 was coming. The image within the title depicts New York City as being the next location. Now this same image has appeared in an online retailers database.

eStarland has a placeholder page for Resistance 3.The cover hasn’t changed since we first saw it on that billboard. Accompanying the box art is a short description of the game.

From the website:

“Continue the fight against the Chimera invasion in Resistance 3, as the battle moves to New York City and humanity makes its final stand.”

The site also lists March 24, 2011 as the expected release date.

Sony has not commented on this image and will probably use the old, “We don’t comment on rumors and speculation” line. If this retailers information is solid, we should expect some sort of announcement or teaser within the next few months. March 2011 isn’t that far away. Sony has already started promoting other 2011 games such as Twisted Metal and inFamous 2, so it wouldn’t be unusual to start the hype train now.
