Cowboys vs. Zombies hits the App Store tomorrow

Earlier this month we introduced you to a little game called Cowboys vs. Zombies. CvZ is a tower defense game for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It contains range of townspeople with varying abilities who take to the rooftops to defend UnDeadwood from zombie attacks. The game comes out tomorrow (July 27, 2010) for $0.99.

The $0.99 price tag will only be around for one day. After tomorrow the price will go up, though we aren’t sure what the normal price will be. CvZ takes the beloved setting of the old west and throws a 3D tower defense game around it. You play as the Sheriff, and you must create a posse to protect the town from zombies. It sounds simple enough, but CvZ has a twist. The zombies can destroy the buildings your posse is positioned on. As they destroy more buildings, the path to the sheriff becomes more vulnerable. If the sheriff dies, the game ends.

The App Store certainly does not have a shortage of zombie games. The most successful tower defense zombie game on the App Store by far is Plants vs. Zombies. We may have a contender in Cowboys vs. Zombies. Come tomorrow we’ll know if it lives up to expectations or if it’s better off dead.
