PS3 Recommendations The PS3 is getting another firmware update soon. Version 3.41 will be laying the groundwork for game and video recommendations in the PlayStation Store. It appears to be following the lead of Destination Arcade, which also includes a recommendation system. The difference is that Destination Arcade recommendations are limited to games on XBLA. It also looks like recommendations on PSN are made can’t be done individually. The PSP will also be updated to version 6.31 to improve stability with certain games.

Though the update could come any minute now, the actual recommendation feature will go live at the end of the month. Seeing as how we only have one week left in July, we won’t have to wait very long. The recommend feature works by selecting a movie or game within the PlayStation Store. You’ll then see a new section entitled “You May Like”. This section contains similar items that were purchased by the PSN community. Items within that list can be selected to move deeper into the browsing experience.

This is a minor update that will expand the PlayStation Store experience. We’ll be looking for any extra additions when the update goes live.
