San Diego Comic-Con 2011 dates announced

With the dust and the smell of sweaty fans hardly settled after the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, Comic-Con International has teased the 2011 installment with set dates.

The 2011 International San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) will take place July 21 through 24, 2011. Yep, despite rumors that it might move, the con will remain in San Diego.

The preview night for the 2011 SDCC will be Wednesday July 20, 2010, and will be held at the San Diego Convention Center located at 111 W. Harbor Dr., San Diego, CA 92101 (USA).

SDCC was started as a comic book convention but has morphed into a pop culture event with companies promoting TV shows, movies and video games as well as comic books. Comic-Con International also produces two other conventions, WonderCon and the Alternative Press Expo (also known as APE), both held in San Francisco, California (USA). It’s also known as a gathering for international, fanatical fanatical cosplayers.

For those of us unlucky enough to not get passes this year, the SDCC site teases us further with the all-caps proclamation, “ONLINE REGISTRATION COMING SOON!”

Also similar to this year, no on-site tickets will be sold, granted or otherwise given out for the 2011 event, so you’ll need to be poised at the computer early the morning the tickets go on sale (when ever that might be). We’ll certainly let you know so check back early and often.
