Sony started the licensing program in 2009. At that time the items using the PlayStation brand logo were limited to PlayStation peripherals and accessories. Now you could buy a new knife set for your kitchen approved by Sony itself. In addition to the logo, Sony will also allow designers to use the classic circle, triangle, square and x button designs from PlayStation controllers on its wares. There’s is a concept image on the official PlayStation site that shows a t-shirt designed with the PlayStation symbols and logo. Each product must meet the standards of SCE before they can be sold in stores.
This initiative by Sony is meant to ensure that everyone regardless of age and other demographics knows the PlayStation name. The PlayStation brand is branching out to other audiences with the introduction of the PlayStation Move controller and casual games. It’s also important to mention all the increased revenue Sony is going to get from selling PlayStation souvenirs all around the country.
I know await the day when I can purchase PlayStation approved toilet bowl cleaner.
