Nintendo taking Dragon Quest IX on tour

Nintendo is going all out for Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. No wonder Square Enix allowed it to publish it in North America. It is getting platinum treatment. In order to get people hyped up about the DS game and give game owners a reason to use Tag Mode, Dragon Quest IX is going on tour.

The big event all begins with the July 31, 2010 GameStop appearance, where select stores will be giving away the Zoma treasure map. The second major appearance will be at select Best Buy stores on August 7, 2010. That’s when the Estark treasure map will be given away. Finally, from August 7 – September 19, 2010, Nintendo will be giving away the Malroth treasure map at select Simon Malls in the US, starting in the East and heading West. Since all events will have many Dragon Quest IX users stopping by, it’s also going to be a great opportunity to get guests for you in-game inn.

The Dragon Quest IX website also features a tentative schedule for Simon Mall tour appearances, complete with dates and times. The dates aren’t set in stone yet, but you can take a peek and see if Nintendo will be showing up in your area.

As much as I’d like the Malroth map, I think I’m going to pass. It doesn’t seem like enough of a reason to drive up to Gurnee. I’ll just settle for getting the Zoma and Estark ones!
