wii games summer 2010 logoNintendo is looking for the world’s best players in several of its hit games with a tournament touring the US.

The Wii Summer Games is a 24-city event challenging gamers to do their best in Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Basketball, Bowling and the Hula Hoop mini-game from Wii Fit Plus. Surely you didn’t think there would be a tourney without Wii Fit, did you?

Teams of 2 to 4 players compete in the games for the chance to attend the September 3-5, 2010, National Tournament in Los Angeles, CA (USA).Prizes include a flat screen TV and a cruise for the victorious team. Players will also have a chance to meet the tourney’s celebrity spokesperson, Olympic gold medal gymnast and Dancing with the Stars champ Shawn Johnson.

You can visit the Wii Games site to see if the tour is coming to your town. If Mario and Shawn Johnson are not visiting your neck of the woods, all is not lost. You can download a home event kit to host your own Summer Games. You won’t be eligible for prizes, but isn’t showing your friends and family who’s the boss at Mario Kart prize enough?

Even if you will get to attend a live event, Nintendo recommends registering your team at its site so you don’t have to wait in line on game day.
