This story will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. A group of World of Warcraft players have decided to get together this weekend for a marathon, powerleveling session. Now while that alone doesn’t sound out of the ordinary, these guys are doing it for charity. Specifically, they’re raising money for CURE, an organization focused on eradicating child cancer.

The event, called WoW4CURE, began sometime last night (August 6, 2010) and will run until August 10, 2010. The group’s objective is to level to 40 and raise $10,000. They plan to continue playing until they meet their monetary goal or hit level 40, whichever comes first.

If you want to follow along, the guys are streaming their gameplay and have a chat box open on their website. All five of them are camped out in one guy’s living room, with computers and cables strewn everywhere. It’s kinda funny.

They will also hold contests and giveaways, so if you’re feeling charitable and want the chance to win some prizes then check them out.

So far, they’ve only got about 30 contributors and less than 15% towards their monetary goal, but let’s hope that these numbers drastically increase over the weekend.
