After several years of underwhelming Need for Speed titles, EA enlisted the services of developer Criterion Games. Criterion is well-known for its Burnout games and racing fans the world over are eagerly waiting to see what the end result is.
At EA’s GamesCom 2010 press event, more details about Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit became available.
As is becoming the industry standard with highly anticipated titles, Hot Pursuit will have a limited edition version. Unlike most limited editions, this one will cost the same as regular versions.
The difference is it will be made in fewer numbers and come with six vehicles already unlocked. You’ll be able to burn rubber in the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, Ford Shelby GT500, Audi TT RS CoupĂ©, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Porsche Cayman S and Dodge Challenger SRT8 if you snag the limited edition. The Alfa Romeo and Ford Shelby are exclusive to the LE release.
EA is adding social gaming elements to Hot Pursuit with the Autolog, which will track your friends’ in-game progress. You’ll find out what tasks friends have accomplished and if you beat them, Autolog will update your friends on what you’ve done. It sounds like great fun, really. EA also unveiled a new trailer with more Hot Pursuit action.
Hot Pursuit is slated for a November 16, 2010, release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Exient is developing a version for the Nintendo Wii to come later.
