Hed is not opposed to the idea of expanding the Angry Birds universe. Not only is he taking interest in offers to invest in Rovio, but Hed also wants to turn Angry Birds into a multimedia brand. The idea is to do for Angry Birds what Disney and Pixar has done for brands such as Toy Story.
Toy Story started as a film but quickly became a household name. We’ve seen two sequels to Toy Story in addition to action figures and video games. Famous properties such as this often are subject to promotions through other organizations such as fast food chains.
Rovio has not struck a deal with any movie studios yet. Between this and offers from undisclosed companies to purchase Rovio, the future is looking bright for the Finnish developer.
Angry Birds can be purchased for $0.99 from Apple’s App Store. A free trial version is available as well. Angry Birds currently has a five star rating with more than 58,000 individual ratings from the App Store community. The full and lite versions of Angry Birds has been downloaded over 17 million times since December 2009.
Angry Birds will also be coming to the PS3, PSP and DS sometime in the future.
