The Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2010 runs August 19-22, 2010 and Nintendo is there. Right when you walk in the door, actually. The booth is small, but if you’re a DS or Wii owners you may still want to stop by.
Nintendo’s promoting two games at the convention, Metroid: Other M for the Wii and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies for the DS. The Metroid content pales in comparison to the massive DQIX push.
For example, both games are there to play and test out. For DQIX, there are multiple kiosks set up where people can walk up and test out the game. Plus, there’s a special kiosk set up where DS DQIX owners with their games in tag mode can canvas for guests and acquire a treasure map to use in their games. There’s one Wii with Metroid: Other M set up. One. Granted, it is in a nice little cove, which is darkened for effect and has a comfortable couch in front of it where you can sit and play.
The DQIX focus is best exemplified by the giveaway. Wizard World Chicago attendees can register to win a blue DSi XL and copy of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies at the booth.
Aside from the DQIX downloadable map for owners of the game and the contest, there are no other freebies. Well, there is a little DQIX pamphlet extolling the virtues of the game, but that doesn’t really count.
If you’re heading to Wizard World Chicago 2010 and want to stop by Nintendo’s booth, you can’t miss it. Seriously, you can’t. It’s the first booth you see when you walk into the convention hall.
