Gamertell Preview: WCG Ultimate Gamer Episode 2

The feuds began instantly in Season 2 of World Cyber Games Ultimate Gamer.

Kat and Vanessa have some personal issues, as Kat took her boyfriend a while back. Vanessa promptly began working with Yaz to get rid of Kat. They sent Kat into an elimination match of Tekken 6, but she triumphed. In addition to that, she now knows she’s got a target on her back. AJ wasn’t shy about his crush on Faye, but we’re not sure yet if she feels the same way. Is AJ headed to the dreaded “friend zone?”

Of course, there are also some video games to be played in the midst of all this intrigue. Ultimate Gamer producers take viewer feedback into account and told Gamertell they got one question over and over in message boards and forums: “Where’s the Nintendo Wii?”

It’s an important question, considering it is currently the most popular gaming console on Earth. Ultimate Gamer approached Nintendo and found the company was very receptive to being a part of Season 2. It’s a great opportunity to see how hardcore gamers fare in a completely different environment. The gamers will take on Mario Kart Wii, a game easy to learn but difficult to master.

“The classic joke is that if you can’t play Mario Kart, what can you play?” host Joel Gourdin said. He noted the gamers give each other quite a lot of grief about their prowess (or lack thereof) in this cute but still complex game. WCG Ultimate Gamer airs at 11 p.m. ET August 26, 2010.
