Valve will soon release “The Sacrifice,” a new expansion compatible with both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.
It fills in the storyline gaps between the games that lead to “The Passing,” the expansion in which the two game casts meet each other. “The Passing” is an expansion currently available for Left 4 Dead 2. It will also allow players to choose which of the original game’s survivors doesn’t get to be called a “survivor” anymore.
As “Sacrifice” implies, either Bill, Zoey, Francis or Louis will give their life so the others can continue slaying zombies. If you would like even more back story on how the two games’ survivors got together, a digital comic is coming to fill in those blanks.
L4D2 owners get an additional October treat, the first game’s hospital-themed mission “No Mercy” will be playable in the sequel as part of “Sacrifice.”
“The Sacrifice” releases in October 2010 as a free download for the PC and Mac and paid downloadable content on the Xbox 360.
