Plants vs Zombies roof Plants vs. Zombies is steadily invading every gaming platform. Ever since its highly successful debut on PC, PopCap Games has ported PvZ to the iPhone, Xbox Live Arcade and Mac. There’s only a couple current consoles that PvZ hasn’t been announced for. Well, make that one console. PvZ will be gracing the Nintendo DS in 2011.

This announcement was made by Laurie Thornton, co-founder of Radiate PR, via Twitter. Thorton’s Linkedin profile provides a list of her clients which includes PopCap Games. She nor her agency had any further details to share. A press release was shared with us shortly thereafter.

PvZ will be available in January 2011 for $19.99. GameStop is currently taking pre-orders for the game.

Plants vs. Zombies is a perfect fit for the DS. The bottom screen can be used exclusively for gameplay. The ease of use should be very similar to the iPhone/iPod Touch version of PvZ. It’s anyone’s guess as to what the top screen should show. I would settle for random zombie antics. Sure it will be distracting, but it’ll also be good for a laugh. The DS port will also include exclusive content to convince gamers to purchase the game for a fourth time.

Once again, the PSP seems to be left out of the loop. There’s always a chance PvZ will come to Sony’s platform, but confidence in the PSP brand appears to be wavering. PvZ may be a bit too expensive for a PSP minis release, so a full scale release on PSN is in order.

  1. I wish there were a PSP or PS3 release!

A DS one is nice, but for a game like this I'd prefer a PSP version.
