DeathSpank returns September 2010 in DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue

You just can’t keep a hero like DeathSpank down! Anyone who played and completed the original DeathSpank (PS3, Xbox 360) found it ended on quite a cliffhanger and wondered whether DeathSpank would continue his quest to dispense justice in dlc updates or a sequel. Well, Hothead Games and EA have just confirmed he’ll do what he does best in the sequel, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue next month.

That’s right, next month. It turns out Hothead was working on both DeathSpank games at the same time. DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is a full game and will be on the PlayStation Store on September 21, 2010 and on Xbox Live Arcade September 22, 2010. And even though the sequel will be longer, it will still be the same price as the original – $14.99 and 1,200 Microsoft points ($15).

In the sequel, DeathSpank will go around collecting and destroying the five remaining mystical thongs. They were supposed to be part of nine Thongs of Virtue, but only six were made and they ended up being evil and corrupting instead. Two player local cooperative multiplayer will return, with Sparkles the Wizard and Steve the Ninja appearing as possible sidekicks for DeathSpank. There’ll also be more puzzles, more weapons and equipment, more locations to explore and a pirate ship!

Unfortunately, there is some DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue news that will make gamers sad. There’s no online multiplayer in the sequel and your character level and equipment from the original DeathSpank don’t carry over.
