Halo Reach logo The desire to play Halo: Reach early is just too strong for some. Xbox Live Marketplace was recently hacked for the review build of Halo: Reach. After its files were shared online, Microsoft started banning any accounts that were playing the game online without permission. Digital copies of Halo: Reach obtained illegally is not the only way people are playing the game early. A report from the Puerto Rico Association of Gamers (PRAG) suggest physical copies of Halo: Reach were stolen from a Microsoft manufacturing plant.

The website heard a rumor about federal authorities along with a security officer from Microsoft’s manufacturing plant showing up at the home of one person who was playing Halo: Reach online. The authorities allegedly questioned the individual about who sold them the game.

PRAG contacted the FBI and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices inquiring about a possible theft at the plant. Both organizations would not confirm or deny the rumor. After discussing the situation on its radio program, a listener told PRAG that same individual bought a copy of Halo: Reach on the street. The person’s brother played the game online for a couple days before the authorities came to his home. They seized Halo: Reach and threatened the boy with criminal charges if he didn’t cooperate by explaining who sold him the game.

PRAG’s sources claim there are over 100 possibly stolen copies of Halo: Reach being passed around in Puerto Rico.
