The downloadable game that’s on everyone’s mind this week has to be Shank. Shank is available on PSN and XBLA for $15. The PSN version hasn’t been reported to have any issues, but the XBLA version wasn’t so lucky.
Shank is suffering from stuttering cutscenes and longer loading times on the Xbox 360. Klei initially believed part of this problem is due to the speed at which older Xbox 360′s access data on its hard drive. Now the developer states the issues are on their end and the Xbox 360 isn’t to blame. These issues slipped by Klei Entertainment because Shank worked just fine on its Xbox 360 development kits. Furthermore, there is a glitch which may prohibit two achievements from appearing after unlocking the trial version of Shank.
Klei is aware of the problems and is actively working on a permanent solution. Clearing the cache from the Xbox 360 may help with the stuttering cinematics and load times. Actual gameplay is not affected at all.
Don’t let this minor inconvenience deter you from purchasing Shank. The single-player campaign will last between 3-4 hours on average and there’s a lot of unlockable costumes to acquire. You and a buddy can also pair up as Shank and Falcone in a local co-op campaign. It plays mostly the same, but includes some team based attacks. There’s also the possibility of more Shank content in the future. We were told there were no concrete plans, but that doesn’t mean there’s no plans at all.
