Dead Rising: Case 0 was supposed to be released on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow (August 31, 2010). Capcom can’t make the date and has delayed the Japanese release of Case 0 for an undetermined amount of time.
Capcom stated there were some elements of the demo that were not appropriate for mass consumption. A report from Famitsu says inappropriate language is the cause of Case 0′s delay. The delay of Case 0 will not affect Dead Rising 2‘s release date.
Dead Rising: Case 0 is a prequel to Dead Rising 2 which is scheduled for release on September 28, 2010. Case Zero can be seen as a paid demo for Dead Rising 2. Even though anyone can download Case 0, only those who spend 400 Microsoft Points ($5) will be able to carry over weapons, skills and additional content into Dead Rising 2.
Capcom’s North American branch has not confirmed a delay for its region. If language is the only culprit for the postponement, we shouldn’t have a problem. Demos for Kane and Lynch 2 and Mafia II contained strong language and even nudity. Japan may have stricter regulations when it comes to vulgar language and free demos. Until Capcom explicitly states Dead Rising: Case 0 is delayed for North America, we’re going to assume everything is still on schedule.
