If you’re in the market for a DSi or DSi XL, wait. That’s right, you really should be patient and wait. At least until September 12, 2010. Nintendo’s just announced $20 price drops on both units. The discount doesn’t take effect for about three weeks though, on September 12.
It isn’t a drastic price cut, but it does help. A DSi will be $149.99 instead of $169.99 and the DSi XL will be $169.99 instead of $189.99. If you delay, you’ll have an extra $20 you could use to pick up a $19.99 DS game. (And trust me, there are a lot of them!)
If you want standard DS Lite, then there’s no need to hesitate. The price drop doesn’t apply to it, and it still costs $129.99. You could if you want – Toys ‘R Us tends to discount that particular unit, or have custom bundles, quite often, but odds are you’ll still end up paying around $130.
Honestly though, I’d wait until the end of September. Nintendo’s announcing the 3DS release schedule and pricing September 29, 2010. It may be better to wait and find out if the 3DS in the first few months of 2011 so you can save your money for it instead.
