The Xbox 360 is the only gaming console that requires a fee to access all of its features. Some people choose to pay for Xbox Live by month, while the best option is to buy a yearly subscription for $50. The price for a subscription to Xbox Live hasn’t been changed for years, but Microsoft is ready to jack up the price. Starting November 1, 2010, Xbox Live subscriptions in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom will increase.
Here is a breakdown of current and future costs of Xbox Live Gold.
United States
Canada
UK
Mexico
Microsoft is offering Xbox Live subscribers the chance to buy one more year of the service at a discounted price of $39.99. Microsoft hasn’t detailed if it will provide any additional features to warrant the price increase. This alone will no doubt send gamers into an uproar.
Retailers such as Amazon often provide yearly Xbox Live subscriptions for less. We’ll have to wait to see if they increase the price a well.
