The start of the Final Fantasy XIV beta was delayed yesterday (August 31, 2010) due to some major bugs in the software. Square Enix postponed the open beta until all the issues could be sorted out. Fears of a long delay have been put to rest today as Square Enix has announced the new starting date for the beta.
The problem responsible for the delay has been fixed. Starting today at (September 1, 2010) 7:00 PDT, Final Fantasy XIV will enter into open beta on the PC. The beta will open up to European territories on September 2, 2010. Square Enix is holding this open beta to put FFXIV through its final paces before its September 22, 2010 release. If you want to participate in the beta, go log on to the Square Enix website and apply.
You will be able to transfer your character’s name from the FFXIV beta into the final release. All you have to do is make sure you pick the same World. Other bonuses for subscribers of Final Fantasy XI will also be available when FFXIV is released.
Square Enix is looking for players who can dedicate a lot of time to this beta. If you’re sure you can handle it, download the benchmark tool to make sure you can actually run the game.
