GSN Game Lounge free preview weekend on DirecTV September 2010

Prior to Labor Day 2010, the Game Show Network (GSN) is giving DirecTV subscribers a free preview weekend of the Game Lounge service.

Game Lounge is offered on DirecTV’s channel 110 and, according to the web site, includes more than 70 games (only nineteen are playable at any one time). The freebie weekend is September 3-4, 2010 (ie Labor Day weekend). These free preview weekends seem to be offered most often around holidays.

All of the games are played through your TV via your DirecTV interactive receive. The directional buttons on the DirecTV remote are used to control the casual style games including various match-3 puzzles, word puzzles, card games, kids games (based on a TV cartoon shows) and popular board games including UNO and Monopoly.

To play on a non-free day it costs $2.99. You can also purchase various unlimited access subscriptions: $5.99 per month, 6-month subscription for $28.99 or a one-year subscription is $56.99. For a limited time DirecTV is also giving away DirecTV Movie Money (good for one movie via DirecTV Cinema) when you purchase a 1-month Unlimited Pass.

You may need to check the DirecTV Game Lounge schedule page to make certain your favorite games are available (not all games are really available all the time) and the web site keeps track of the high scores. You can also earn Tokens (which are used to wager in certain games) which does require that you register with the GSN Game Lounge web site.

The Game Lounge does offer some free games on the TV Games section of its web site, many (if not all) of which have been retired from the pay service.

And extra kudos to anyone who can name the person and the game show in the upper right corner of the image above (airs on Game Show Network, of course).
