Xbox Live Update for the Week of August 29 through September 4, 2010

The biggest news pertaining to Xbox Live this week is that its cost is going up. If you keep an eye out for deals from places such as Amazon though, it is pretty easy to get a cheaper price than even the $49.99 that it has been going for.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is available this week. It’s a morsel of Dead Rising 2 goodness that serves as a prequel to the September 28, 2010 release of the full game. For only 400 Microsoft Points ($5) you will be able to fight off zombie hordes and learn a little more about the story that leads up to the game. Any achievements you unlock, as well as clothing and combo cards you find will carry over to the full version of the game.

Since we’re talking about demos, Vanquish is a first-person shooter we can kick the tires on this week. Your character gets to wear an “Augmented Reaction” suit to battle enemies trying to take control of the Providence Space Colony. The suit will elevate your senses to help against those enemies. Since it’s a sci-fi themed shooter, I am guessing these enemies will be very well-armed and significantly outnumber you. That’s just a hunch I’m playing, though.

Bioshock 2 gets some DLC love this week with the Minerva’s Den add-on. You’ll learn more about Rapture, the most messed-up example of city planning since Gotham.

The Deal of the Week is alien-themed. You’ll get discounts on games starring some of sci-fi’s most beloved and well used characters, aliens. Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition is on sale for 800 MP.($10) Aliens vs Predator’s Swarm Map Pack and the full games for Alien Breed Episode 1 and Galaga Legions are 400 MP.
