The only thing that wasn’t revealed is which version of Super Mario All-Stars/Super Mario Collection will be used in the Super Mario Collection Special Pack. I’m thinking it’ll be the original, which included the optimized versions of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japanese version), Super Mario Bros. 2/Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 3. It did come first, after all, and is the one most people remember. I doubt anyone would complain though, if the Super Mario Collection Special Pack ended up including the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World version instead though!
Unfortunately, the Wii is region-locked. So if you want to relive your Super Mario All-Stars memories and don’t have a Japanese Wii, you’ll have to dig out your SNES and play the original game. Since the Super Mario Collection Special Pack is only going to cost ¥2,500 (~$29), you could always buy it anyway on October 21, 2010 for the booklet and soundtrack. You could wait and see Nintendo will surprise us all and release the anniversary pack worldwide, but I’d advise against that. It sounds like the Super Mario Collection Special Pack will only be sold until the end of 2010.
