Josh Olin, community manager for Treyarch said the team already showed most of their hand at the multiplayer event.
“This is pretty much it,” Olin said. “There are still some other little things that we haven’t talked about yet but will at a later date, but this is pretty much the whole caboodle.”
Olin said if Treyarch were planning on revisiting a zombie mode, it wouldn’t consider it to be a small detail. Everything it showed was in development for two years. Best Buy may have been overzealous in its product listing. Though I can’t help but wonder why Best Buy listed four zombie multiplayer maps. That seems oddly specific for something that doesn’t exist.
The Nazi zombies mode in World at War was easily one of the game’s best features. It capitalized on the public’s insatiable need to kill hordes of the undead, while maintaining CoD’s teamwork mechanics. This seems like a big missed opportunity to me. Treyarch introduced zombies in a CoD game and it really helped separate the team from Infinity Ward. To abandon it now is just silly.
