While the PS3 version of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is being billed as a remake, it almost sounds more like an enhanced port. JAW is working with Oddworld Inhabitant’s Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna on the project and it sounds like most of the changes will be cosmetic. For example, there will be 720p HD visuals and the world and characters will look more defined and realistic. There will be new bonus content though, and PlayStation Move support.
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is a genre-bending adventure which includes FPS, action and RPG elements. Players follow a masked and unidentified bounty hunter known only as the Stranger. He’s constantly taking on bounties so he can earn moolah for some kind of surgery. You have to capture or kill the bounties to get the money, though capturing always gets you more moolah. It’s most unique feature is that Stranger uses a crossbow that uses live creatures, like Zappflies or Wasps.
Poor Xbox 360 owners. While it’s still fairly easy to find a copy of the Xbox version of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, it isn’t on the list of games the Xbox 360 is backwards compatible with. So unless JAW announces a Kinect-compatible, Xbox Live Arcade release later on, they won’t be able to enjoy this game.
