The 999 demo goes through the introduction of the game, and allows the player to see the introduction and meet Junpei and Akane, two of the character’s forced to take part in the Nonary game. Unfortunately, the layout of the demo is a little inconvenient, and you’ll have to constantly keep scrolling up and down to see both screens. It’s definitely worth playing if you’re curious about 999 though, since the it’s one of those games you really have to try to see if you’d enjoy it.
999 tells the story of nine people who’ve been trapped on a ship. They’ve been captured by an unidentified man and forced to play the dangerous Nonary game. Players must help the characters find a way to survive and escape the ship and their rooms by solving puzzles. Depending on the decisions you make the characters may die along the way.
If you want to play the full game, you still have a long while to wait. 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors won’t be released in North America until November 16, 2010. You’ll probably have to go to GameStop, Amazon or some kind of specialty store to get it, as this Mature game doesn’t seem like the sort of title mainstream retailers will stock.
