Under Siege

Traditional real-time strategy games have a difficult time conforming to console controllers. It’s hard to select specific units and keep tabs on them with the same fluidity of a mouse. PlayStation Move has a good chance at improving on this issue with its top-notch motion controls. Among the first RTS games to use this feature will be Under Siege. Under Siege is scheduled to release this fall on the PlayStation Network.

Under Siege is being developed by Seed Studios. It is a RTS game that shy’s away from the grind of resource collecting and building bases. The only resource Under Siege contains is gold. You use gold to build up your units through training and recruitment. Under Siege places the majority of your focus your army. The game is broken down into preparation and battle phases. Preparation Phase has you picking which units you want to bring into battle and the Battle Phase is the actual fight.

The video below shows how battles will work with the PlayStation Move controller.

Under Siege can be played both online and off with friends. Up to four people play online together while couch play is restricted to two player split-screen. There won’t be general servers controlling the online multiplayer. Individual players will act as servers. The announced game types are Deathmatch, Capture Point, Capture Treasure and Survival. There will be more game types when the game ships.

Under Siege also contains a map editor that will be updated with more objects over time. Custom soundtracks and Trophy support are also included. You can actually earn a Platinum Trophy in this game which is rare for a downloadable title.

Seed Studios will release a demo after the game is released. The final price is estimated between $10 and $20.
