It didn’t take long for another company to start salvaging the remains of APB. Hi-Rez Studios, makers of Global Agenda, has reached out to displaced APB players in an effort to obtain their business. From today (September 18, 2010) to Friday (September 24, 2010) all new Global Agenda players will get 30% off on their purchase.

The executive producer for Global Agenda wrote an open letter on Global Agenda’s site expressing his condolences and expectations. I initially felt honing in on APB players right after the demise of Realtime Worlds is in bad taste. The letter Hi-Rez Studio’s executive producer wrote mourned the loss of APB, not necessarily Realtime Worlds. But I don’t want to believe Hi-Rez Studios is celebrating the closure of Realtime Worlds. However I’m sure the studio is ecstatic at the prospect of acquiring additional revenue from APB players.

Here’s an exert from the open letter.

In making APB, Realtime Worlds had a bold vision to make an MMO devoid of traditional tab-targeting, cast bars, and die-roll combat. We honor their effort and innovation, and greatly mourn the game’s closing.

Sadly, the APB server shutdown leaves their entire community with nothing to shoot or blow up tonight!

Unlike APB, Global Agenda doesn’t require a monthly fee. For about $20 you can shoot things all you want.
