Well, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owners can’t complain that they’re usually the last ones to get ports of games today. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I is now available and it’s available first on iTunes. PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 owners have to wait until next week. But who cares about them right now? What’s important is that any North American or European Apple fans who want some Sonic goodness can hop on iTunes and pay $9.99 (£5.99, €7.99) to experience Sonic’s latest adventures.
Dr. Eggman’s up to no good again. But then, when isn’t he being nefarious? He’s had enough of Sonic and decided to refine his Badnik creations in the hopes that one will finally be strong enough to stop Sonic. It’s up to the player to help Sonic succeed, outrunning, jumping and spin dashing through enemies. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 even introduces a homing attack to deliver a swift end to some hard to hit opponents.
Let’s watch the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 iPhone trailer and see it in action:
The iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad incarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I is also slightly special. It features tilt controls and also has two levels that aren’t available in the console versions of the game. So even though it is sort-of a port, Sega still included something just for Apple device owners.
