uDraw Studio THQ’s uDraw GameTablet has been on store shelves for a little over one week. The tablet is used in conjunction with the Wii to bring a new style of gameplay to the console. uDraw also ships with an art application that is capable of creating images of great depth. THQ released a video of painter David Kassan drawing a portrait using uDraw. The hype surrounding this device has been positive so far. In fact, THQ’s shares rose 21% since uDraw’s release.

According to Forex, the uDraw GameTablet is on its way to being a hit this holiday season. Its $69.99 price point isn’t high enough to scare casual consumers away. This is also the only gaming device that uses a tablet with an included stylus. The tablet could also renew interest in the Wii, which has been seeing declining sales in recent months. As of this writing, uDraw occupies the #9 spot on Amazon’s bestselling videogames list.

THQ will produce 1.3 million uDraw units during the company’s fiscal year. Depending on how well it sells within the next month, THQ may or may not have to increase production.

Additional games for uDraw include Pictionary and Dood’s Big Adventure. They both retail for $29.99. New games will be released every 3-4 months.
